How to Choose your Wedding Photography Style?

Weddings are a big deal. We know you want to ensure that all elements of your day are captured not only during the ceremony but before and after as well. There are many different wedding photography styles that we can explore while capturing your big day. Here are just a few of the styles we work with to help you decide which is the best for your wedding.

Wedding Photojournalism

Wedding Photojournalism is a specific style of photography that enables the photographer to naturally capture a story as it unfolds before them. With this specific style, the involvement of the photographer is quite minimal. There is no need to strike a pose or for little details to be arranged accordingly. Everything is captured in the moment and in reality. The beauty of this style of photography is that you end up with a piece that is unique to your wedding by avoiding the perfected cliché styled shots.

Fine-Art Wedding Photography

Fine-art wedding photography is very different than that of photojournalism in the sense that it has a much stronger artistic flare. Fine-art wedding photography involves the photographer utilizing artistic angles, creative lighting, unique compositions, and advanced post production techniques to create an image that ultimately encompasses their vision. That being said, photographers are careful to capture these special moments without entirely disrupting their surroundings.

Fine-art wedding photography starts off with the photographer’s vision. They must first decide what they want the final image to look like. Their ultimate goal is to convey a message, an idea or evoke some sort of emotion. In post-production, the images are transformed into fine-art photographs using a variety of Photoshop features, such as, filters, textures, and masks. This ultimately creates an aesthetically pleasing wedding photograph.

Fashion Wedding Photography

Fashion photography is a style of photography that captures clothing and other fashion items. Although this style of photography is most commonly captured for commercial purposes, photographers can use this idea to capture the bridal gown and the groom’s suit. The techniques of fashion wedding photography includes the usage of camera lights, fashion-esque poses and expressions along with dramatic backgrounds for a visually appealing effect.

At MPSG, our Wedding Photographers capture the gown and suit before the bride and groom begin to get ready for the ceremony. This provides a visually appealing photograph of the outfit on its own with a few details in the forefront, such as shoes and accessories.

Traditional Wedding Photography

Traditional wedding photography requires that the photographer act as a coordinator who assists in guiding and directing the wedding. Although it may sound as though your photographer is being intrusive, they actually have the ability to capture some of these shots while going unnoticed. The images produced from traditional photography tend to be more posed and have a classical aspect about them. These pieces are beautiful, timeless, and very common.

While the MPSG Wedding Photographers are not traditional wedding photographers, we do have extensive experience in directing and posing people for group formals when necessary.wedding-photographer-weddingphotography-photography-traditional-bride-groom-brideandgroom-weddingdress-bridalgown-suit-mpsgweddings-toronto-torontophotographer-gta
